World Mythos: Creation Part II

This is the second part of an epic update that I have in the works. It has taken me some considerable time to get this all banged out, so I do hope you all enjoy it. This part, especially, since it has taken up a majority of my time, trying to get it to work as best as I can.

Upon their completion of the Heavens and the Depths, and upon completion of the Nine Divines, did the Weavers breathe their final breaths into the world, finally granting the Divines breath of their own. These Divines will be what finally crafts the world into what is now here.

Each Divine, having strength and wisdom of those that made them and came before them, knew the tasks that were set before them. The first task will be to breathe life into the world, so others might partake of the wonders of the One.

The first Divine, being wild by nature, said, “If the world is to survive, it will need warmth and power of fire. I will create a world of fire that will be able to lend its strength and warmth to all of the Planes.” Thusly, he set to work on a new plane, set between the Heavens and the Depths, but being on the same existence of the Central Plane. And so the first other plane, the Plane of Fire, came to be.

The second Divine, of a serene nature, said, “If the world is to survive, it will need a counter to the warmth of fire. It will need to quench its thirst and cool its being so it will not be consumed by the First’s flames. I will create a world of water that can lend its cooling touch to all of the Planes.” Thusly, she set to work on a new Plane, set between the Heavens and the Depths, but being on the same existence of the Central Plane, and opposite to Fire. And so the second other plane, the Plane of Water, came to be.

The third Divine, being stalwart by nature, said, “Fire may burn and water may cool, but without a place to set their heads, the creatures of the world will surely be destroyed. I will create a world of earth that will be able to lend its stone and firmness to all the Planes.” Thusly, he set to work on a new plane, set between the Heavens and the Depths, but being on the same existence of the Central Plane, set next to Fire and Water. And so the third other plane, the Plane of Earth, came to be.

The fourth Divine, being tumultuous by nature, said, “With the first three crafting places where the Planes will derive various strengths, it will be all for naught if the creatures of the world are unable to even draw breath. I will create a world of air that will be ever-giving of itself, so that fire can burn, the earth can support life, and that water may pass through to quench all others and grant its winds to all the Planes.” Thusly, she set to work on a new plane, set between the Heavens and the Depths, but being on the same existence of the Central Plane, set next to Fire and Water, but opposite from Earth. And so the fourth other plane, the Plane of Air, came to be.

The fifth Divine, being of a bleak nature, said, “None should know the darkness I experience. If people are to be happy, they must know of what can cause elation and joy. I will create a world of energy that lends its power to all, and where those who are of its nature may truly be comforted.” Thusly, he set to work on a new plane, set between the Heavens and the Depths, but being on the same existence as the Central Plane, set above Fire, Water, Earth, and Wind. And so the fifth other plane, the Plane of Positive Energy, came to be, not for himself, but for all others.

The sixth Divine, being of a sanguine nature, said, “Even the highs of elation will prove far too powerful for those who are incapable of feeling it to its fullest, nor would they be able to tell when they are joyous or not. Therefore, I will create a world that lends its power to all, and those with troubled spirits might find comfort in their own sorrow.” Thusly, she set to work on a new plane, set between the Heavens and the Depths, but being on the same existence as the Central Plane, set below Fire, Water, Earth, and Wind, but opposite to the Plane of Positive Energy. And so, the sixth plane, the Plane of Negative Energy, came to be, not for herself, but for all others.

The seventh Divine, with a belief in the transmundane, said, “It is good that all planes within are joined to each other, but there is no way for the beings without are to influence the world, granting their strength and wisdom. Therefore, I will create a world that influences all others with its way of travel, so that all may meet on common ground.” Thusly, he set to work on a new plane, set against all the Heavens and the Depths, as well as the Central Plane, touching all and allowing passage. And so, the seventh plane, he Astral Plane, came to be.

The eighth Divine, being whimsical and quixotic, said, “The beings of the Central Plane are of a spiritual nature when their own journeys come to a close. They will need a place to lay their heads until a new place has been found where they may dwell. Therefore, I will create a world that allows for such a being to find solace, while a place is prepared for them, but also where they may continually lend their power to those who are still walking their paths.” Thusly, she set to work on a new plane, set only against the Central Plane, allowing for spirits to pass on to safe grounds, while allowing for their power to be granted to the beings o the world. And so, the eighth plane, the Ethereal Plane, came to be.

The ninth, Divine, seeing all this, began to grow envious of the order that his fellow Divines have fostered upon the world. Upon seeing this, he said, “Order is indeed needed to allow for the beings of the world to experience joy and happiness, but chaos will be needed to stimulate sadness and anger amongst the dwellers of the world. Therefore, I will create a world of darkness that fosters this chaos, and allows for those more troubled to find their solace.” Thusly, he set to work on a new plane, set only against the Central Plane and the Ethereal Plane, allowing for troubled spirits to find their ground. However, this ground became a twisted and bleak version of the Central Plane, but all nine Divines saw it as good. And so, the final plane, the Plane of Shadows, came to be.

The Nine Divines, their works now completed, said to one another, “We have crafted all that is necessary for the beings of the world to live, survive, and coexist amongst one another in both peace and discord, alike. Now all that is left is to form those who will safeguard that which we have created. The Stewards of the world will be like us, in that they will have strength like ours, but they will be of the people of the world, so that they might be of equal mind for them.” Upon the completion of their meeting, they set out to populate the world of both Stewards, who will later ascend to see themselves as gods and goddesses, along with their kin, the Peoples of the World.

World Mythos: Creation Part I

This is the first part of an epic update that I have in the works. It has taken me some considerable time to get this all banged out, so I do hope you all enjoy it.

The world itself, while it was but the imaginings, was formed with the Heavens and the Depths, so that all beings might find a place to dwell. The Great Being, in Its wisdom, formed all of the Planes from nothing. However, It came to pass from existence upon completion of Its work. In doing so, It fell and fragmented into three. The Three Weavers, as they are known, received their life from the essence of the Creator.

The Weavers, when they were formed, received their strength and knowledge from That which formed them. The three Weavers, in their female form, knew what it was that each of the worlds needed. They, though being from the same One, were nonetheless different from each other, and wove into the shapeless Planes that which was needed.

The first Weaver, taking on the mantle of the Crone, appeared old and withered, but holding all wisdom, wove knowledge and wisdom itself into the Planes, taking careful pride in the Heavens, for theirs was home and access to Paradise.

The second Weaver, taking on the mantle of the Beauty, was of youth and zeal for life, itself. She wove strength and pride into the Planes, but her own joy was in weaving the Depths, in effort to balance out the Crone, and perhaps outdo her abilities.

The third Weaver, placed herself between the Crone and the Beauty, took on the mantle of the Maiden. Exercising prudence and temperance, took that which that which was between the Heavens and the Depths, and interwoven, became the Prime, where all beings might meet and events transpire.

Soon after this was begun, the Weavers knew that the tapestry that was the Planes would become their undoing. Upon seeing this, the Crone stated that they will need others to continue their work, for the Prime would remain incomplete otherwise. Thus, seeing that it would remain incomplete, the Weavers began a new work upon the central realm. It would remain neutral to the Heavens and the Depths, as the Maiden gave of herself to all three, while the Crone and the Beauty gave much of themselves to the Heavens and the Depths.

So it was that the three Weavers plied their strengths and essences, so that they would be a part of the Weave, rather than separate from it when they pass on. All of the strands so worked by the Weavers became the Nine who were of the whole, the Nine Divines. These Nine were to be Guardians against the beings of that which the Crone and that which the Beauty had wrought, for the weavings of both the Heavens and the Depths began to draw breath.

Upon their completion of the Heavens and the Depths, and upon completion of the Nine Divines, did the Weavers breathe their final breaths into the world, finally granting the Divines breath of their own. These Divines will be what finally crafts the world into what is now here.

Update: Name change of Ferals to Ker'shaa

I think I finally have decided on a new race name for the ferals. As stated before, "feral" was a tentative name for my new D&D race, so I think that the new name change will be for the best.

The race is collectively known as ker'shaa, now, with multiple members also being called ker'shaa (the plural form). A single member is a ker'shan.

For all the details, here is the original post: New Race: Ker'shaa

That should do it, for now.
